5 Timeless Vintage Hairstyles!

My first 'Hair-do Appreciation' post I shared about pigtail buns. Today I want to talk about some iconic ladies from the past and their hairstyles that are still so popular! I know each one has inspired me in my personal style :)

1. Fringe Bangs // Anna Karina
The face of French New Wave and the Actress I am most inspired by. Her fashion sense, classic long bob with fringe bang, and cat-eye is such a killer combo! Every time I see this style I'm always reminded of Anna Karina.

2. The Pixie // Mia Farrow
Okay, so I'll admit I had no idea about her influence on this hairstyle until I watched America's Next Top Model when Tyra would have the girls' hair cut to look like hers in Rosemary's Baby. It was not too long ago that I was so inspired by her look, I went ahead and cut my hair off and later bleached it blonde, haha. I'm not sure a pixie is going to happen for me again, but this cut is so low maintenance and fun!

3. Wavy Volume With a Big Headband // Brigitte Bardot
Another former French actress, Brigitte rocked the volume no matter up-do or down. She was known as the most liberated woman of post-war France in the 60's and later became an established animal rights activist. (Go girl!)

  4. Blunt Bangs // Bettie Page
She is so famous for this hairstyle, you can walk into any salon and say you want her bangs and practically every hairstylist will know what you're talking about. Bettie Page made this look as big as it is today! This is a bang cut I return to again and again when I need a change, and the black color to match is always perfect.

5. The Middle Part // Brooke Shields
Last but certainly not least, this style has been become one of the latest trends, but it was Brooke's signature hairstyle during her teen years. I wasn't bold enough to try out this 'do until this past spring!

What are your favorite hairstyles? Are you courageous enough to try something out of the norm? I'd love hear from you :)

Busy Bee

I feel so guilty for not writing since early this month, but man-o-man have I been busy! So, here's a little update..

Yesterday was my best friend's baby shower, I can't believe the wedding is just shy of a month away and then few weeks later she will be having little Ezekiel! So many exciting things right around the corner, I think we're gonna have to double check that her dress still fits, haha!

I have so much decoration making and preparations to do that I'm almost happy I got let go when I put in my notice at my job (yep, that happened). Wedding prep isn't the only thing that has me busy though, I'm also working on the launch of my very first business and getting all of our belongings packed up for the move to the boonies. I almost feel a little in over my head right now, but it's all so exhilarating! I've never been more ready for these big steps forward and being so blessed with support from friends and family helps oh-so-much.

I'm not quite ready to announce my business yet, I still have some details to iron out, but it is so much fun! Keep an eye out, I will keep you guys updated!

Kass

Rainy Day Wishlist

Rainy Days

Today I am so happy to say that monsoon season has arrived, my favorite time of the year in Arizona! The downpour actually began during the town parade this morning. It looked like the people on the floats were even enjoying it too. With the 100 degree heat for the past few days, this was just what we needed! So, to celebrate the weather I created a rainy day wishlist. This could also count as a wishlist for moving to the Pacific Northwest (which I'm hoping for in years to come!).

Enjoy,
Kass

Friday Faves! v.3

For tonight's Friday Faves I have some really wonderful links of the week! Work has been so crazy I haven't had the time to put into the blog as much as I'd like, but after my surgery I will be freed up to do more :) I hope everyone's fourths were amazing and filled with yummy food and fireworks!

This Terrarium throw pillow from ModCloth is adorable. Since we are moving soon I'm looking at new decorating ideas and I love this!

I've been really excited about starting my own garden at the new house, I spotted this book and thought it could be a very informative read!

Look at that pattern! I am absolutely swooning over this duvet.

Its the 25th anniversary of Seinfeld tomorrow and buzzfeed has 25 GIFs of relatable moments to reminisce over.

My favorite blog read this week was on The Lune Blog. She's starting a whole new feature about vintage trailers and RVs. I've recently fallen in love with the thought of having one someday so I'm very excited to continue reading her pieces!

And this cake mold is perfect!

Happy weekend, friends!

Dentist Jitters

It has come about that I urgently need to have my wisdom teeth removed, so next Monday I go in for surgery. I can honestly say that I did not see this coming last week, but I'm happy to be on the road to taking care of my pain. I am really nervous though, I know that may sound silly, but this is my first time going under anesthesia and I deal with anxiety on a day to day basis.

So, with yesterday being payday and having a month free of rent I decided to go on a trip to my very favorite store for a little retail therapy. Yay, Target!

I sort of feel like the items I picked up were all pretty nice for a self care package. I got a new Sonia Kashuk toiletry bag, which was definitely something I had been wanting for a while. I noticed a brand in the natural skin care section, Pacifica, it's a paraben, mineral oil, peanut oil, and petrolatum free, 100% vegan brand. They also donate a share of the proceeds to clean water! So I picked up some Coconut Kiss lip butter, Hawaiian Ruby Guava body butter, and Coconut Water cleansing face wipes. I will admit that the lip butter does smell a little like playdough, but gives a long lasting finish.  I also decided to pick up a pack of notebooks. I'm always on the go and brainstorming ideas for posts and projects, I needed a purse sized notebook so I could jot down all the ideas that pop into my head though-out the day. (Not to mention, the beautiful artwork on the covers really caught my eye!) Now, I don't know about you, but I am a candle fanatic and target carries the best soy candles all year long. This Island Coconut one smells like paradise! :)

Last but not least, I found a new pair of leggings to love!(surprise, surprise) Being as comfortable and affordable as they are, Target leggings always seem to make it home in the bag with me. Lately I have been really trying to get smart about money, but I think the main reason I felt so comfortable spending a little bit on myself last night was because I have a budget planned out for the rest of this month and I'm really excited to see how it goes!

Okay, so I know earlier I mentioned about being nervous for my wisdom teeth to be removed, although that is very true I am really grateful to be able to have it taken care of so efficiently. I emailed my boss today about it and within an hour was assured the time off for the day of and the following to recoup and my family is really taking care of me through it all, I love them so much.

Lots to come this weekend with work, Lord beer me strength and may Orajel be enough to keep me going until Monday!

XO,
Kass

Greetings, July!

It's the start of a new month! Did June fly by or what?! Last month was very eventful, I felt like I socialized with friends way more than I usually do, which was really great! Malina and her boyfriend came up for a weekend and we got to share a couple of meals and laughs. It was nice getting out. Sometimes I'm such a homebody, netflix sucks me in and I'm spending all day in my pajamas watching Parks and Recreation. (I will admit I did that for a good portion of today, hehe.) Last month I began making my decorations for the wedding with Brianna, had lots of fun doing it too. I also took my dress in to get altered, I'm really excited to get it back this month to see what it looks like at the appropriate length :) We got (most of) our invitations mailed out, I just need to get the addresses on a few! The stamps are so cute, they say "Yes, I do" and have a floral design. To top it all off I started this blog, it's nice to have a project I can own and commit to.

This month kicked off with a trip to the dentist about my wisdom teeth (ouch!), lots of watermelon, and the purchase of my very first course on Craftsy! I'm going to be taking a 14 video session class on up-cycling furniture. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm hoping to come out even more inspired to DIY and up-cycle. Tomorrow I go back to work to prepare for our busiest time of the year, 4th of July weekend. We are preparing for a line to the sidewalk and I am ready for the action! Tim and I are getting ready to move at the end of this month, We are so blessed by my grandparents, they are renting us their second home. A place where I can invest in gardening, paint the walls, and have the space to conduct many projects and even have a dark room! We will be further away from town and our jobs, but I think it's a good trade. My bridal shower is this month too! I almost forgot in all the chaos, haha! Having all the women I care most about in one room together is going to be so wonderful. It'll be nice having a time where we can all just relax and enjoy the preparation :)

July is shaping up to be one crazy month! With all of this, plus events with friends, I should be one busy bee. Bring on the excitement! What are some of your plans for the month, or highlights for June? Do you have anything you're really looking forward to?

Happy July,
Kass
